The Los Angeles Sparks are joining in on the roast of Sophie Cunningham.

The Sparks defeated Cunningham and the Indiana Fever on Saturday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind. Playing without star player Caitlin Clark, who missed her fifth straight game with a groin injury, the Fever fell to the Sparks by a 89-87 final.

After the game, the Sparks got a little bit shady over social media. In their post to X about the final score, the Sparks took a thinly-veiled swipe at Cunningham.

“List of cities Indiana has beef with: Detroit. Cleveland. Los Angeles,” the Sparks wrote in the post (with “Los Angeles” in bold lettering).

For context, the Fever guard Cunningham sparked backlash earlier in the week with her controversial comments about the WNBA’s upcoming plans for expansion. The league is officially set to add new teams in Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia in 2028.

Reacting to the news shortly after it was announced, Cunningham said, “I don’t know how excited people are to be going to Detroit or [Cleveland].” That led to a wave of critics calling out Cunningham’s remarks, including even a notable NFL player.

The 28-year-old Cunningham has since attempted to clarify her comments in the wake of the backlash. But she unintentionally provided the Sparks with some great fodder to joke about after beating the Fever on Saturday. That was not the only disrespectful thing that the Sparks did to the Fever on Saturday either as Sparks guard Kelsey Plum got a little rude with Fever counterpart Lexie Hull in the middle of the game.
