Everyone loves a good Stan Van Gundy quote, and the notoriously blunt Pistons coach had quite the assessment of how the NBA Playoffs – and particularly LeBron James – are officiated.
Van Gundy told ESPN’s Lisa Salters after the first quarter that, after a few controversial non-calls where it appeared that James could have potentially been whistled for a foul, he told his team that they’re not getting the Cavs star called for offensive fouls. It just isn’t happening.
“He gets to do what he wants.” Stan is just the best.
While his ire – if you can call it that – may have been aimed at someone else, SVG isn’t afraid to call out his own team during in-game interviews too. The Pistons may be heavy underdogs in their series against Cleveland, but if they could just win a game or two to bring us more interviews like this, would anyone really mind?
