The Golden State Warriors’ star trio wants to see their team’s lengthy offseason stalemate finally come to an end.

Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler all want restricted free agent forward Jonathan Kuminga back on the Warriors, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported Friday. Siegel adds that all three stars have been advocating for Golden State to get a deal done.

The 22-year-old Kuminga, a former No. 7 overall pick by the Warriors in 2021, has spent the last four seasons in Golden State and managed to emerge as a meaningful contributor (averaging 15.8 points per game over the last two years combined). But Kuminga has long had gripes with the team over his role, especially with head coach Steve Kerr according to reports.

Kuminga, who along with Philadelphia’s Quentin Grimes is one of only two unsigned restricted free agents remaining nearly three months into NBA free agency, is now holding out for as much money from the Warriors as possible over as little of a timeframe as possible as well. The last that we heard of negotiations was that Kuminga had one significant demand that he needed Golden State to meet before signing a new deal with them.

Meanwhile, the situation has quickly become a distraction for the Warriors, especially with training camp set to open in just over a week. For one, Golden State still has yet to make a single free agent signing this offseason while they wait for the Kuminga deadlock to be resolved.

As for the Curry-Green-Butler trio, it sounds like they both a) want Kuminga back and b) want their team to finally be able to move on from the impasse. In particular, a former NBA champion and multi-time All-Star appears to be en route to Golden State once the Kuminga situation is mercifully over for them.
