Report: Stephen Curry will skip Olympics, Andre Iguodala may do the same
Stephen Curry will not be playing in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, according to a report.
According to Marcus Thompson of the San Jose Mercury News, multiple sources said that Curry has informed USA Basketball that he will be skipping the Olympics to focus on getting his right knee healthy.
Curry has played deep into the NBA season for two consecutive years and has a number of ongoing injuries. It only makes sense that he’d take as much time off as he could.
Curry may not be the only Warriors player skipping the Olympics, with Andre Iguodala reportedly harboring concerns about the Zika virus and considering staying home. Iguodala is said to want to play, but he is unsure of the health situation and is being cautious.
One player not worried about Zika is Draymond Green, who will reportedly go if he is invited no matter what.
Iguodala isn’t the only NBA player who may skip the Olympics due to concerns about the virus. It’s a safe bet that there are even more that have not come forward who are also contemplating staying home.
