Former NBA guard Steve Blake has landed his first official coaching position.
Longtime basketball writer Peter Vecsey reported on Monday that the retired 13-year veteran has been hired as an assistant for the Phoenix Suns by new head coach Monty Williams.
Blake, who last played in 2016, had since been working as a coaching intern for the Portland Trail Blazers. He also previously played for Portland, where his time coincided with Williams’ tenure as a Blazers assistant.

The last we heard from Blake, he was on something of a quest for viral fame, so it’s good to see him land on his feet with a prominent gig in Phoenix.
