Could the Oklahoma City Thunder be Rudy Gay’s golden ticket out of Sacto?
According to a report by Zach Lowe of ESPN on Thursday, the Thunder are interested in “bigger wings” including Gay. The logic goes that such an acquisition would allow OKC to slide everybody down to their intended spots with Victor Oladipo moving into a bench role and Andre Roberson going back to defending shooting guards.
The Thunder already acquired one dynamic forward earlier this month but could use a talented wing scorer to give Russell Westbrook some breathing room on offense. Oladipo could then be deployed in a sixth man capacity, similar to how he was in his final season with the Orlando Magic, and become the true offensive creator that the Oklahoma City second unit currently lacks.
It’s no secret that Gay wants out of Sacramento and has for many months now. With some interesting young assets to dangle, the Thunder could be the team to finally take him off the Kings’ hands.
