Tim Duncan to coach Spurs Tuesday during Gregg Popovich absence
Tim Duncan will be making his head coaching debut on Tuesday.
Duncan will coach the Spurs Tuesday night in place of Gregg Popovich, who is away on personal business.
Spurs say Gregg Popovich will miss tonight's Spurs-Hornets game due to personal business. Tim Duncan will serve as the Spurs’ head coach tonight in place of Pop.

This marks Duncan’s first game as a head coach. He has served as an assistant with the Spurs since July of 2019.
It probably counts as a vote of confidence that Duncan is getting the nod. Popovich has another qualified assistant in Becky Hammon who has previously coached the Spurs’ NBA Summer League team.
Popovich has jokingly shaded Duncan’s coaching ability before. We’ll get to see it in action now and judge for ourselves.
