Tim Duncan hits game-winner, becomes oldest player to record 20-20 game (Video)
Tim Duncan, aka The Ageless Wonder, had himself quite the night on Monday as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Atlanta Hawks. For starters, Duncan hit the game-winning shot from the top of the key with just 0.04 seconds remaining. Everything the 37-year-old did prior to that clutch basket was even more impressive.
By scoring 23 points and grabbing 21 rebounds, Duncan became the oldest player in NBA history to record a 20-20 effort. The fact that he is still able to have such a major impact on games at age 37 is incredible.
“He did a great job,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said of Duncan after the game. “We were having a tough night in a lot of ways and he was superb.”
Duncan struggled through the first month of the season as he dealt with some minor injuries, but he seems to be back on track with three solid games in a row. Just when you think this is going to be the year age becomes too much for Timmy to overcome, he goes and puts the team on his back.
