Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton had a Game 1 to forget in his team’s Eastern Conference second-round series against the New York Knicks.

The Pacers let the series opener slip away in a 121-117 loss to the Knicks at Madison Square Garden in New York City, N.Y.

The Pacers led 109-104 with 4:27 left to play in the fourth quarter. After Knicks star Jalen Brunson hit a three to cut the lead to two, Haliburton turned the ball over on two consecutive Pacers possessions.

Both turnovers were forced by Knicks wing OG Anunoby. The pair of Haliburton miscues allowed the Knicks to take the lead and eventually win the game.

Fans on X echoed one particular comment after Haliburton’s stinker under the MSG spotlights. Several users posted about Haliburton being unworthy of making Team USA Basketball’s Olympic roster. Haliburton had made the Team USA roster over Brunson and Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving.

Haliburton scored just six points on 2/6 shooting from the field. He didn’t attempt a single free throw in the contest. The 2-time All-Star was outscored by all eight of his Pacers teammates who logged minutes in Game 1.

Brunson tallied 43 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists on a 14/26 shooting clip.

Haliburton has dealt with a handful of injuries this season. The Pacers star missed a lot of time due to a hamstring issue during the regular a season. He was also initially listed as questionable for Game 1 due to back spasms.
