LeBron James is making up for his veteran’s minimum contract in some other ways.
The Philadelphia 76ers star James will be making $15 million per year under his new partnership with Polymarket, the popular online prediction market. Front Office Sports reports that James is only an endorser for Polymarket (not an investor) and will be focused on promoting football rather than basketball.
Additionally, Front Office Sports notes that the length of James’ deal with Polymarket remains unclear but adds that the deal is an ongoing engagement with multiple deliverables. You can read their full report on the situation here.
James, the 22-time NBA All-Star, previously had a similar deal with DraftKings last season. But upon on the expiration of that deal over the summer, James announced his new partnership with Polymarket earlier this month.
In late July, James signed with the 76ers for a very modest salary. He agreed to a two-year deal for $8 million, representing a veteran’s minimum contract.
But now James is set to make nearly four times his NBA salary for next season via his new collaboration with Polymarket. Prediction markets continue to be the source of controversy though, and other top NBA stars have already sparked backlash due to such partnerships.
