Victor Oladipo’s persistence may end up paying off.
The Miami Heat are monitoring the former NBA All-Star guard Oladipo’s comeback efforts, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported on Wednesday. Winderman adds that the Heat have also granted Oladipo permission to work out at their home arena (Kaseya Center in Miami, Fla.).
Oladipo, the former No. 2 overall pick, is openly pursuing an NBA comeback after last playing in the league back in 2022-23. Earlier this week, he even made an emotional public appeal to NBA teams asking for another opportunity in the league.
As for the Heat, there is obviously plenty of history there. Oladipo already played for Miami for three seasons from 2021-23, marking his most recent stint to date in the NBA.
Oladipo first debuted in 2013 and eventually developed into a two-time All-Star, a one-time All-NBA selection, and a one-time All-Defensive selection (holding career averages of 16.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game). But injuries, most prominently a 2019 quad tear and a 2023 patellar tendon tear, sapped Oladipo of much of his ability to contribute.
Now 34 years old, Oladipo did manage to play for the Wisconsin Herd of the NBA G League during the 2025-26 season. The Heat also do still have an open roster spot available, but it might be a bit crowded in their backcourt next season after the addition of another notable former All-Star guard in recent days.
