People are fearful that Jayson Tatum may have suffered a torn Achilles tendon during his Boston Celtics’ loss on Monday night.

The Celtics lost to the New York Knicks 121-113 in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference semifinal at Madison Square Garden on Monday. Tatum scored 42 points but left with just over three minutes left in the fourth quarter after going down with a non-contact injury.

Fans have seen that sort of thing occur all too often.

Tatum was emotional after leaving the court in a wheelchair. That imagery did not inspire confidence.

This is a bad outcome across the board for Boston. They have fallen behind 3-1 in the series, are likely to be without Tatum for some time, and they have some very tough decisions ahead. This is not where the Celtics wanted to be a year after winning the NBA championship.
