Kyrie Irving received a predictable welcome from Boston Celtics fans on Sunday, and the Brooklyn Nets star could do nothing but smile and shake his head as he was showered with insults.
The Celtics put together a huge fourth quarter to beat the Nets 126-120. An extremely loud “Kyrie sucks!” chant broke out at TD Garden when Jaylen Brown was at the free throw line with just over 30 seconds remaining.

Jayson Tatum, who erupted with 54 points in the win, tried to quiet the home fans. The taunt was so loud that even Irving couldn’t ignore it. Doris Burke also mentioned the chant on the ESPN/ABC broadcast.

Irving is used to that type of treatment in Boston. Celtics fans have loved to hate him since he left the team in 2019. One of them even faced a felony charge for crossing the line in expressing his hatred for Irving.
