
Being named to your first All-Star team is a huge honor, and that was not lost on Trae Young.
The Atlanta Hawks guard on Thursday night learned that he had made his first career NBA All-Star team. Young was emotional, as video shared by his teammate, Brandon Goodwin, showed.
Young, who is in his second NBA season, is averaging 29.2 points, 8.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game for Atlanta this season. His team has the worst record in the East at 11-34, but with stats so gaudy, it’s hard to Young’s candidacy for the All-Star Game.
Among Eastern Conference guards, Young was first in the fan vote, second in the media vote, and third from the players, which placed him first, ahead of Kemba Walker. Young is the first Hawks player in 44 years to earn an All-Star selection in one of his first two seasons.
