Warriors odds to win NBA championship skyrocket

Now that they have added Kevin Durant to the mix, the Golden State Warriors’ odds to win the NBA championship have skyrocketed. Conversely, the Thunder’s odds have plummeted.

The Las Vegas Hilton sportsbook released title odds after Durant announced his move to the Warriors, and Golden State is now even greater than an even money favorite to win it all. At 4:5 odds, you would have to wager $5 to win $4 if they win the title.

Warriors 4/5
Cavaliers 3/1
Spurs 8/1
Clippers 20/1
Celtics 20/1
Thunder 30/1

Prior to Durant’s announcement, the Warriors’ odds were 2:1, which means you would receive double your money if you bet on them to win it all:

(BEFORE Durant decision)
NBA Title Odds
Warriors 2/1
Cavs 3/1
Thunder 7/1
Spurs 8/1

The other interesting note is that the Thunder went from 7:1 odds to win it all to 30:1, meaning that they are a big long shot to win the championship without their former MVP.

Not only will the public expect the Warriors to win it all, but now the odds reflect it to a great extent. That means anything less than a championship will come as a huge disappointment for the Warriors, meaning Durant will have a lot of pressure on him to deliver.
