Warriors owner ‘tired’ of facing Cavs in Finals?

Joe Lacob Warriors

Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob feels the same way that many of us do about a fourth consecutive NBA Finals matchup between his team and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After the Warriors’ win over the Houston Rockets in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals on Monday, Lacob gave his thoughts on their Finals run.

“It was a very tough series,” he told Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “Winning on the road, first time we’ve ever done that in Game 7. That’s a big one. But the big one’s still to come. Gotta go win the title.

“Sort of tired of Cleveland, to be honest,” Lacob added when asked about having another date with the Cavs in the Finals. “But having said that, LeBron James is an immense challenge, an incredible player. It’ll be fun.”

Lacob has served as the majority owner of the Warriors since 2010, overseeing their dominant run over the last four years that so far has netted them four Western Conference titles, two championships, and a 73-win season (the winningest in league history). But fatigue has indeed begun to set in for most people with yet another year of the Cavs and Warriors meeting in the Finals.

That said though, Lacob did make some inflammatory comments last year that could potentially fire the Cavs up this time around.
