The Golden State Warriors issued a statement on behalf of the team Saturday in response to President Donald Trump’s decision to deny them a White House invite.
The team said that they were “disappointed” that they were not given the opportunity to have an open dialogue on issues that matter to them, but made clear that they still intend to do events in Washington, D.C. when they travel there, with a focus on events promoting equality and diversity.

The Warriors will likely receive a large amount of support for their stance — even moreso given that it looked rather unlikely that they would have chosen to make the trip even if they had received an invitation.
