Joel Embiid is getting himself used to wearing a mask.
The Philadelphia 76ers star was seen wearing a black mask before the team’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. He then conducted an interview with the media while wearing the mask.
Embiid told me he’s hoping NBA allows him to keep mask black, rather than white, because a white mask reflects light. pic.twitter.com/NI3LgJRNRL

Joel Embiid spoke to the media today in a mask. I asked him if thinks he could play in game 1 if the playoffs. He said that’s “unlikely, but there’s still a chance.” pic.twitter.com/N4nNcUGbXA

That appears to be the same mask he was wearing in an Instagram video a day earlier.
Embiid was asked whether he thought he could be ready to play in Game 1 of the first round of the NBA playoffs and said “Unlikely, but there’s still a chance.” His head coach said the same thing.
Embiid is recovering from surgery to repair a fractured orbital that was suffered in a collision with teammate Markelle Fultz. It seems like he will be able to rejoin the Sixers at some point in their first-round playoff series.
