Marcus Smart was ejected after retaliating against Joel Embiid for a dirty screen during the third quarter of Wednesday’s Philadelphia 76ers-Boston Celtics game.
Smart was playing defense on an inbounds play early in the third quarter when he went by the top of the key. Embiid reached out with his left elbow and dropped Smart to the floor. Smart was upset about the blindside hit and jumped off the floor to push Embiid in the back:

Smart was assessed a flagrant-2 foul for the play, which meant an automatic ejection. Embiid made both free throws and then a layup to help close the gap between the teams. Embiid was also called for a technical foul on the play.
