Wizards expected to hire legendary executive Rod Thorn
The Washington Wizards are making a notable addition to their front office.
Marc Stein of the New York Times reported on Tuesday that legendary NBA executive Rod Thorn is expected to join the Wizards in an advisory role after previously working as a special consultant to Milwaukee Bucks ownership.
The 78-year-old Thorn has had an illustrious career as an executive, including overseeing the selection of Michael Jordan in the 1984 draft as Chicago Bulls GM and winning Executive of the Year in 2002 with the New Jersey Nets, a year that also netted the team their first-ever NBA Finals berth. Additionally, Thorn helped assemble the “Dream Team” in 1992 as president of the USA Basketball Men’s National Team Selection Committee and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018.
The Wizards were a lousy 32-50 last season, but they appear to be going for a culture shift, having also made another interesting front office hire recently.
