Wizards not expecting John Wall to play next season
John Wall is recovering from surgery to fix a ruptured Achilles, and the Washington Wizards are clearly not rushing him back.
Wizards owner Ted Leonsis admitted Monday that the team is prepared to take it slow with Wall, and he is not expected to play at all in 2019-20.
Ted Leonsis says John Wall “probably won’t play” next year at all. They are taking it slow with his Achilles rehab hoping to get it right.

This is not a shock. Wall had surgery in mid-February, and a 12-month timeline would have let him play the tail end of next season. The Wizards, though, are in a bit of a reshuffling period, and rushing Wall back wouldn’t be beneficial for either the team or the player.
Wall is definitely progressing in his rehab. The likelihood is he is fully recovered and back in action for the start of the 2020-21 season.
