Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have just dodged a suspension-sized bullet.
The Fever star point guard was in line for an automatic one-game ban after she was hit with her eighth technical foul in the 2026 WNBA season on Saturday against the Chicago Sky at the United Center in Chicago, Ill.
However, the league stepped in and rescinded the call, keeping Clark a technical foul below the threshold, according to Tony East of Forbes Sports.
Clark was called for a tech after seemingly accidentally making contact with a referee in the third quarter of the Sky game.
The league’s decision to overturn the technical foul call came following the Fever’s appeal after their 90-86 victory over Chicago.
The Fever can now let out a big sigh of relief, with Clark still available to play in their next game. Indiana is scheduled to face the New York Liberty on Tuesday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.
However, the Fever will still be on edge regarding Clark’s technical foul count. With the upcoming meeting with the Liberty included, Indiana has 12 more games to play in the regular season, and the former Iowa Hawkeyes star will have to be on her best behavior the rest of the way to avoid an automatic suspension.
Clark scored 26 points on 7/15 shooting with 11 assists and 4 rebounds in the win against the Sky.
