Muhammad Ali was hospitalized this week to receive treatment for a respiratory issue, but a representative for him says the boxing legend is not in serious condition.
“Ali, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, is being treated by his team of doctors and is in fair condition,” family spokesman Bob Gunnell wrote in a statement, per WDRB News in Louisville. “A brief hospital stay is expected. At this time, the Muhammad Ali family respectfully requests privacy.”
Ali was most recently hospitalized in January 2015 to be treated for a severe infection. There was also a health scare for the 74-year-old in January 2013, when a report indicated he was fighting for his life. Ali’s daughter Laila shot the rumors down and said her father’s health was fine.
Here’s hoping the former heavyweight champ makes a full recovery.
