With this hire, Cincinnati stays local. Brannen posted an 81-51 record at Northern Kentucky, turning around a program that went 9-21 in his first year there to take them to two NCAA Tournaments in the next three seasons. He’s not a big name, but he’ll know the region well for recruiting purposes and has had success in his current job.
Brannen also has experience as an assistant at big schools, having spent time as an assistant and later associate head coach at Alabama.
