Coby White’s near half-court heave to beat the shot clock was impressive but did not count.
North Carolina and Virginia were tied at 59 with around 3:30 remaining on Monday and the Tar Heels had the ball. White was dribbling around and did not realize the shot clock was about to expire, so he threw up a shot from near the sidelines. Incredibly, the shot went in.

Unfortunately for UNC, officials reviewed the shot and determined the ball was not out of White’s hand before the shot clock expired. Rather than having a 62-59 lead, the score went back to 59-59 and Virginia got the ball.
