Ex-Puerto Rico coach Rick Pitino weighed in on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance

The polarizing Super Bowl LX halftime show by Bad Bunny continues to be the talk of the town, and St. John’s Red Storm head coach Rick Pitino let everyone know where he stands on it.

On Sunday, the 73-year-old Pitino shared his thoughts on the Puerto Rican artist with a post on social media.

While Pitino is not a Latin music connoisseur, he has great memories of Puerto Rico in large part because of his job.

“As someone who spent time in Puerto Rico as their National Coach, watching Bad Bunny at halftime was awesome. @sanbenito you have a seat on the Johnnies bench anytime. Viva Puerto Rico!” Pitino wrote on X.

Among Pitino’s many stops in his coaching career was his stint as the head coach of Puerto Rico’s national team. In 2015, he helped Puerto Rico finish fifth at the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship in Mexico City, Mexico.

While we don’t know if Pitino got up from his seat and partied to the tune of Bad Bunny’s DtMF (Debí Tirar Más Fotos) during the halftime show, he has the Red Storm on track to make it to the Big Dance in March.

The No. 19 St. John’s improved to 19-5 overall and 12-1 in Big East play, while extending its winning streak to 10 games after taking down the Xavier Musketeers, coached by Pitino’s son, Richard, on Monday, 87-82, at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y.
