The No. 9 Illinois Fighting Illini are simply one of the hottest teams in the nation, and they proved that again on Sunday after taking down the No. 5 Nebraska Cornhuskers in a 78-69 victory at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb.
Despite playing in enemy territory, the Fighting Illini did not look intimidated by Nebraska, as they brought the heat.
They were also seemingly powered by a vulgar mantra that was seen written on a whiteboard in the locker room.

The message appears to be a reference to Pinnacle Bank Arena, where Nebraska regularly plays its true home games.
In any case, the Fighting Illini clearly responded to the tough challenge of defeating a powerful Cornhuskers side.
Illinois found itself trailing the home team by six points at the half before taking over the contest in the final 20 minutes. The Fighting Illini’s defense flummoxed Nebraska to turn things around, as they allowed just four field goals to the Cornhuskers in the first 13 minutes of the second half. An 18-8 run right after halftime also gave Illinois the momentum it needed, as Brad Underwood’s team took care of its lead the rest of the way.
The win was also a sweet revenge for Illinois on its Dec. 13 loss to the Cornhuskers.
Since then, the Fighting Illini have won 11 games in a row, and will look to stretch that winning streak to 12 on Wednesday versus the Northwestern Wildcats at State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill.
