Iowa players hilariously hold rug hostage to protest NCAA
The Iowa Hawkeyes may be out of the NCAA Tournament, but they’re still involved in the proceedings in a certain way.
On Sunday, the Wall Street Journal ran a story about the special not-for-sale March Madness rugs that appeared in team locker rooms that were being stolen due to their value as souvenirs. Iowa teammates Jordan Bohannon and Nicholas Baer, however, had a different reason for lifting one of the rugs.
Give us the ability to make money off our own name and we’ll give you your rug back. You have 24 hours, @NCAA. @Nicholas_Baer pic.twitter.com/Sca4cTs8kq

In a tournament where a lack of athlete compensation has already been a talked-about issue, this is great use of social media. We’re guessing the NCAA ultimately won’t be getting their rug back.
