Jay Wright after blowout: I feel bad for Oklahoma
Jay Wright’s Villanova Wildcats blew the doors of Oklahoma in one of the most impressive Final Four victories in history, but the coach still had empathy for his opponent.
“That was just one of those nights,” Wright said of his team’s hot shooting in an interview with TBS’ Tracy Wolfson after the game. “I feel bad for Oklahoma; we’ve all had those nights. They’ve had a great season, they’re a great team.”
Wright also referenced his team’s 78-55 December loss to the Sooners.
“We knew they could beat us bad, so we had a lot of fear coming into this game.”
Wright’s Wildcats posted the largest margin of victory in Final Four history at 44 points. Their 71 percent shooting was also the highest percentage in a Final Four semifinal game. 95-51. What more can you say?
