Jay Wright says repeal of one-and-done could reduce NCAA corruption

Villanova coach Jay Wright thinks there’s one way that college basketball can reduce corruption — with the NBA’s help.

Wright feels that the “one-and-done” rule leads to too many issues in college basketball, and that revoking it would help college basketball become a cleaner sport.

“We need be authentic,” Wright told CBS Sports’s Jon Rothstein Monday on the College Hoops Today Podcast. “We need to ask the NBA for help. We need to give kids who want to go and make money the opportunity to play professionally right out of high school and the kids who want to be in college, need to be committed to staying in college. We may lose a little bit of talent in the college game that way, but it may ultimately be better.”

There has been a willingness from the top of the NBA to change that rule, and it’s probably a good idea. It won’t fix everything, though, as long as people think they can get away with cheating.
