Report: Kevin Stallings to meet with Pitt to discuss his departure
Pitt is looking to part ways with Kevin Stallings after a disastrous season, and it sounds like conversations between the two sides will begin on Thursday.
Pitt lost to Notre Dame in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Tuesday to finish the season 8-24. They were an embarrassing 0-18 in conference play.
Pittsburgh radio host Andrew Fillipponi reported on Wednesday that Stallings, Pitt’s AD and attorneys will meet on Thursday to discuss terms of Stallings’ departure.
BREAKING: Pitt AD Heather Lyke, Kevin Stallings and attorneys from both sides will meet tomorrow morning to discuss the terms of Stallings departure. Sources says it could get messy, including the possibility that Stallings is fired with cause.

Apparently there is an issue over Stallings’ buyout. 93.7 The Fan’s Colin Durant reports that Stallings was offered $7.5 million of his $9.4 million buyout and rejected that amount.
Circled back to all sources and this is the story on Kevin Stallings.
– Buyout is $9.4M
– Multiple high-end Pitt boosters insist he was offered $7.5M and said no.
– Sources close to Stallings insist no such reduced offer was made.— Colin Dunlap (@colin_dunlap) March 8, 2018
Stallings just completed his second season as Pitt’s head coach since taking over for Jamie Dixon, who left for TCU. The Panthers went 16-17 in Stallings’ first season, but cratered to 8-24 this season. Prior to Pitt, Stallings was the longtime head coach at Vanderbilt.
