Watch: Liberty player produces epic flop during Atlantic Sun final
The Liberty Flames claimed an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday despite one of their players putting up a flop of the year candidate.
Liberty’s Scottie James was running down the floor and went down like he’d taken an elbow directly to the face from Lipscomb’s Rob Marberry. The problem? Marberry’s elbow didn’t catch James, but the flop was convincing enough that the announcers bought it and the referees saw fit to review it.
“There was a flagrant elbow, to James’ face”

The referees reviewed the call and determined that if there was contact, it was so thoroughly embellished that there would be no call.
Let’s just say that even this flop was initiated by more contact. Liberty did go on to win 74-68, however, so James and his teammates will be playing in the NCAA Tournament.
