Seth Greenberg: Tournament Selection Committee Is Insane

In case you missed it Saturday, the always charming and charismatic Virginia Tech coach Seth Greenberg had a moment of truth during which he desperately campaigned for his Hokies squad to get into the tournament. Virginia Tech had just lost in the ACC tourney semis by two points to North Carolina on a last-second shot by Tyler Hansbrough. In his post-game presser, Greenberg stated that no other “bubble” team could have given UNC a tougher game, therefore they deserved to be in. But Seth went even further than that:

“Anyone who watched that game that knows anything about basketball, if you don’t think this team is one of the top 65 teams in the country, you’re certifiably insane,” Virginia Tech coach Seth Greenberg said. “Because I don’t know who else could come into this environment, basically play a road game, and play those guys the way we just played them. The only thing we didn’t do is win the game.”

MDS at FanHouse even provides the video which adds even more effect. By now you all know that it’s NIT time for the Hokies. Therefore, by Seth’s transitive reasoning, the NCAA tournament selection committee is certifiably insane. I agree with Greenberg that Va Tech is one of the top 65 teams without question. Unfortunately, because of the automatic berths, it doesn’t exactly work out that way. They should be in over Coppin St. and Georgia, and of course, so should Arizona State, the biggest snub of em all.
