Ohio State head coach Thad Matta and Dayton coach Archie Miller had to have known they were in for a close game on Thursday when they showed up wearing the same clothes. The coaches got together to chat for a bit before the opening tip, and Matta appeared to take note of the fact that he was wearing the exact same tie as Miller.
Miller inspected Matta’s tie before giving him a pat on the back. If the coaches wardrobe selections were that similar, their playbooks couldn’t have been that far off — right?
Apparently Miller had slightly more mojo in his tie, because the Flyers brought us the first big upset of the 2014 NCAA Tournament with a thrilling 60-59 win. Ohio State’s Shannon Scott helped Dayton with a dumb foul late in the game, but I’m crediting Miller’s suit.
