Tom Izzo released a statement on Sunday to clarify his comments about Larry Nassar that led to plenty of backlash.

After Michigan State’s win over Indiana on Friday, Izzo talked about Nassar and Michigan State’s handling of the allegations of sexual abuse against the former school athletic trainer. One part of Izzo’s comments that stood out was him saying about Nassar that he hoped they got the right guy, indicating potential doubt he had about Nassar’s culpability. That particular comment led to a harsh response from the mother of Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman.
Even though Izzo clarified that particular remark, his overall support of Michigan State’s president and leaders has also been called into question.
