UMBC sent a thoughtful tweet after Virginia won the national championship on Monday night.
The same squad that last year pulled off the biggest upset in NCAA Tournament history sent this tweet praising Virginia for its turnaround:

UMBC became the first 16 seed to ever beat a 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Virginia was mocked and criticized after their embarrassing loss, and many were shy to pick them to go too far in this tournament after last year’s debacle. But they proved doubters wrong by winning it all in 2019, even if they got some help from controversial calls along the way.
UMBC provided Virginia with the motivation that propelled them to a championship this year. They are a significant part of the Hoos’ redemption story.
