LSU and Clemson put together an awesome first half of the National Championship Game on Monday night, and perhaps no individual was having a rougher time than A.J. Terrell.
The junior cornerback was charged with covering Ja’Marr Chase and got burned all half. Chase put up six catches for 162 yards and two touchdowns in the first half, besting Terrell in coverage constantly, including both touchdowns.
Plenty of observers noted Terrell was being burned in the game.

AJ Terrell is a great player caught in the middle of a nightmare tonight.

And when he wasn’t struggling in coverage, Terrell was unable to make tackles in run support.

That was the name of the game for LSU in the first half: they were beating Clemson’s DBs in the passing game.
