Report: Arkansas met with Mike Leach about coaching vacancy
Arkansas is making progress in its search for a new head coach after firing Chad Morris and apparently has met with a qualified candidate.
Football Scoop reported on Tuesday that Arkansas met with Mike Leach recently to discuss their job.
Would Leach have genuine interest in the position? It seems possible. He interviewed with Tennessee before they went with Jeremy Pruitt and seemed like a legit possibility for that job. He also seems frustrated at Washington State over a talent gap with Washington.
If a talent gap between Washington State and Washington presents problems for Leach, heading to Arkansas might not be a good idea. He’d be in the SEC West — the toughest division in the country — and would have to deal with talent gaps going up against Alabama and LSU, not to mention Auburn and Texas A&M.
Leach might be able to win some at Arkansas, but the fan base’s expectations would be extremely high, and Leach probably wouldn’t enjoy that too much.
