
Tensions came dangerously close to boiling over in the game between Texas and Baylor on Saturday, with the Bears bench rushing onto the field at one point.
The scuffle started when Baylor quarterback Lynx Hawthorne – the team’s fourth string signal caller – made a hard tackle after being intercepted. Texas players took offense to the hit and began shoving Hawthorne, which led to the Baylor bench flooding onto the field to protect their quarterback. Here’s the video, via ESPN.
The referees and coaches for both teams managed to prevent things from getting completely out of hand. It did not appear that any punches were thrown… well, except for this guy:
Amazingly, the only team penalized for this fracas was Texas, picking up an unsportsmanlike conduct flag for the initial shoves on Hawthorne.
