Negotiations between SMU head coach Chad Morris and Baylor have reportedly hit a snag.
Morris was said to be one of Baylor’s top head coaching targets along with Tom Herman, who is now out of the picture after accepting the Texas job over the weekend.
Morris reportedly has met with Baylor twice. He and his reps reportedly countered a five-year, $24.5 million offer from Baylor, and their counter offer was not accepted.

The Dallas Morning News’ Bill Nichols says the two sides continue to negotiate.

However, 247 Sports’ Travis Haney says the sides have hit a snag in negotiating. Haney says Morris may have overplayed his hand by using a potential opening at Texas A&M as leverage. He also says Baylor may be reluctant to increase their offer to Morris after seeing the Mustangs give up 75 points to Navy over the weekend.
Morris went 2-10 in his first season at SMU and his team went 5-7 this season. The Mustangs’ 38-16 upset of Houston last month caught the attention of many throughout the state of Texas.
