Bill Snyder had harsh quote about his Kansas State team

Bill Snyder

Bill Snyder had a harsh quote about his Kansas State Wildcats following Saturday’s loss to West Virginia.

Snyder’s squad is 2-2 on the season, with lopsided losses to Mississippi State and the Mountaineers. One call that backfired on the team was the decision to go for it on 4th-and-inches near midfield down 7-0 in the second quarter. The team got stopped, and then WVU turned around scored two touchdowns on them to go into halftime up 21-0.

“I went in the locker room and I accepted the responsibility for being behind in the ballgame at the halftime with our players,” Snyder said, via The Wichita Eagles’ Kellis Robinett. “Because there were two touchdowns following that. But I can’t coach a team that can’t get six inches on a play.”

He’s right. If you can’t convert on 4th-and-inches, then you are unlikely to win a game.

Kansas State has done well under Snyder since his return to the program in 2009. They went 8-5 last season and 9-4 the year before, winning their bowl game in each case. But this year’s team does not look like it’s heading for quite as successful of a season.
