Conference USA hired PR firm to help Marshall’s playoff chances
In less than a week, college football’s playoff selection committee will release its first rankings.
Mississippi State and Ole Miss will be near the top, barring slip ups this weekend. So will Florida State, who doesn’t play again until after the initial rankings are released. Among the schools not likely to be particularly high is Marshall. That, however, hasn’t stopped Conference USA from doing what it can to get its best school included.
Conference USA hired public relations firm Brener Zwikel & Associates to boost the Thundering Herd’s chances of being part of the first FBS playoff.
“The Conference USA office did that on behalf of the membership,” said Jason Corriher via USA Today, Marshall’s football sports information director. “Right now, we’re the ones that they’ve used to pursue some publicity for the league because of our national ranking. And it helped our cause and our league.”
Marshall is currently undefeated (7-0) and ranked No. 22 in the Coaches’ Poll. The Associated Press has them No. 23.
The Thundering Herd don’t play any opponents in the “Power Five” conferences, which will hinder their chances of being one of the four playoff teams. And they’re relatively unnoticed by the majority of the country. Time for Brener Zwikel & Associates to do their thing.
