QB Jake Haener reportedly expected to transfer to Fresno State
Jake Haener quickly decided to transfer from the Washington Huskies football program after losing out on the starting quarterback job. He may have a destination in mind already.
Haener, a redshirt sophomore, was told Thursday that he had lost the starting job to Georgia transfer Jacob Eason. Though Huskies head coach Chris Petersen and the team’s offensive coordinator wanted Haener to stay, the youngster decided to leave in pursuit of more playing time.
ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reported on Sunday night that Fresno State is the likely landing spot for Haener.
Several sources say Fresno State is a possible/probable landing spot for QB Jake Haener, who left Washington on Saturday after losing the starting job to Jacob Eason. Bulldogs coach Jeff Tedford knows Haener from recruiting, and will need a QB after Jorge Reyna, a senior.

Fresno State, which is coached by Jeff Tedford, will be looking for a new quarterback after senior Jorge Reyna’s career ends. Haener would make sense as an addition.
Tedford has been taking transfers with the Bulldogs. Prior to Reyna, who is a junior college transfer, the program’s quarterback was Marcus McMaryion, who transferred in from Oregon State.
Haener, who was set to be a redshirt sophomore this season, went 9/13 for 107 yards, a touchdown and an interception in three games with the Huskies last season.
