Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has his eyes on the prize.
The Buckeyes wide receiver had another spectacular outing Saturday against the Iowa Hawkeyes, leading his team to a 31-14 win at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa. Smith tallied 11 catches for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns in a performance for the ages that he somehow makes feel commonplace.
Smith’s second TD catch gave the Ohio State junior 36 for his career, pushing him one ahead of Chris Olave for the all-time program record. The 20-year-old made sure to hit the Heisman Trophy pose after waltzing into the end zone.

After the game, Smith put every Heisman voter on notice with a clear message.
“You’ve just got to [let] the Heisman voters or whoever it is know that I’m the best player in the country,” Smith said, via ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg. “I’ve got to be there.”
Smith’s play has done most of the talking for him. The last time a pure wide receiver won the award was in 2020, when DeVonta Smith claimed the trophy after a standout campaign for Alabama.
Over his first five games in 2020, DeVonta caught 45 passes for 556 yards and 5 touchdowns. Jeremiah has been even more productive over the same span, tallying 43 catches for 805 yards and 9 touchdowns.
The Heisman voters won’t need much convincing if Jeremiah Smith keeps up his torrid pace.
