Jessica Dorrell resigns from job at Arkansas, will receive $14,000 settlement

In the least surprising news since hearing that Michael Jordan was thinking about selling the Bobcats, Arkansas announced that Jessica Dorrell resigned from her job with the football team.

Dorrell was hired over 158 other applicants and was paid $20,000 by former coach Bobby Petrino upon taking the job. A few days after Petrino crashed his motorcycle, it was revealed that Dorrell was having an “inappropriate relationship” with the coach. Phone records showed they exchanged thousands of texts and hundreds of calls.

“While Ms. Dorrell had a legitimate right to apply for and accept a position within the football program, the circumstances surrounding the former coach’s decision to hire her compromised her ability to be effective in such a position,” UA athletics director Jeff Long said.

“She and I believe she should have the opportunity to move on.”

Dorrell has been on paid administrative leave since last week and now she’s done. But fret not, she’s not going home empty-handed; she also is receiving a $14,000 settlement from the school. No word on what happens with the car she bought using the $20,000 gift from Petrino.
