Joe Brady leaving LSU for Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator job

Joe Brady

The LSU Tigers are still celebrating their national championship win from Monday night, but some news on Tuesday has dampened the excitement a little.

Joe Brady, who served as LSU’s passing game coordinator this season, is leaving the school to return to the NFL. ESPN’s Adam Schefter says Brady will be working for the Carolina Panthers. Field Yates says Brady will serve as the team’s offensive coordinator.

The 30-year-old spent two seasons with the New Orleans Saints as an offensive assistant from 2017-2018 and was in his first year as LSU’s passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach. He won the Broyles Award, given to the top assistant coach in college football.

Brady had agreed to a 3-year contract extension with LSU, but that is not preventing him from leaving for Carolina. There have been rumors in recent weeks that he could leave for the NFL and become an offensive coordinator, which is what it sounds like he is doing.
