Joe Mixon suspended for Oklahoma-Iowa State game
Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon has been suspended for the Sooners’ game against Iowa State on Thursday for a violation of team rules, the school announced Tuesday.
“OU sets very high standards and they must be met by all of our student-athletes,” Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops said in a statement.
There have not been any public details released about what may have led to the suspension, but Mixon appeared to give a clue in his statement.
“I regret that I did not respond appropriately to parking attendants and understand and accept the consequences,” said Mixon, per the school.
Oklahoma is 6-2 and 5-0 in conference play. Mixon has accounted for 1,170 combined yards and nine touchdowns this season.
