Lamar Jackson has admirable attitude after monster game

Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson had the kind of stat line after Louisville’s 62-28 win over Syracuse on Friday night that would blow most people away. And while the numbers were astronomical, they still weren’t good enough for the sophomore QB.

After the game, Jackson was critical of his performance and only graded it a “C.”

“I threw a lot of bad balls. A lot of bad reads on my behalf, but I think I did alright,” Jackson said after the game.

He was asked whether or not his stats — 610 total yards and five touchdowns — impressed him.

“I was (impressed) numbers-wise, but too many mistakes we had out there on the field. Turnovers and stuff like that; we shouldn’t have those. That’s not what the offense is built for,” Jackson said after the game.

“Already felt like we had too many mistakes. We weren’t supposed to have that. Dropped passes, fumbles. We weren’t supposed to have that. Too many mistakes. The offense is supposed to be perfect — score every drive.”

Now these are the kinds of quotes that would make even Bill Belichick grin.

Jackson now has an absurd 13 touchdowns through two games, not to mention this incredible highlight.

You have to respect the attitude from the sophomore QB. While many athletes would get egotistical and self-congratulatory after such a performance, Jackson is focusing on what he needs to do better. Perhaps it’s that mentality that has driven him to become as good as he is already.
