Former Texas Longhorns quarterback Major Applewhite is said to have interest in the head coaching job at Texas State.
Rivals reporter Brent Thibodeaux says Applewhite has interest in the job but does not have an interview set up yet.
I've been able to confirm through sources that Houston OC Major Applewhite is interested in the #TXST job. No interview setup yet.

Applewhite was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Houston this season as the Cougars went 13-1, including a victory over Florida State in the Peach Bowl. Prior to his season at Houston, the 37-year-old coached at Texas as the co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach from 2008-2013. He previously served as co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Rice under Todd Graham and Alabama under Nick Saban.
The issue is whether Texas State has the kind of budget to pay the type of money Applewhite can command as a highly-regarded coordinator.
