Report: Miami to hire Major Applewhite as offensive coordinator
Major Applewhite will not be out of a job for long.
Less than a week after being fired by Houston, who later hired Dana Holgorsen, Applewhite is being targeted for Miami’s offensive coordinator position.
Canes Insight’s Stefan Adams reported on Thursday that Applewhite will be named the new offensive coordinator for the Hurricanes.

The move is not official, but Adams says it will happen.
Miami has experienced significant coaching changes in a short period of time. Three days after an embarrassing bowl loss to Wisconsin, Mark Richt announced his retirement. Manny Diaz was announced as the new head coach later that evening, and Diaz has already made coaching changes and apparently found a new OC.
Applewhite went 15-11 over two seasons at Houston. Prior to that, he was an offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at several schools, including Alabama, Rice, Texas, and Houston.
